What is SMART FARMING?
Smart Farming basically focuses on the usage of data acquired from all the historical, geological and instrumental sources in the management of farming activities. The data which is acquired all the time on every farming related aspect which can be accessed from any part of the world. Smart farming is not equal to technological farming. Smart farming records data and makes sense out of it. It uses hardware (IoT) and software (SAAS) to manage pre harvest and post harvest data.

ROLE OF IoT
IoT (Internet of Things) in agriculture uses drones, sensors and robots which automatically or semi-automatically gathers information and data. It mainly aims at increasing efficiency and prediction. Semi automatic robots are used for harvesting. GPS helps in tracking places every time and can be accessed through phone screens. Drones are used for imaging, mapping and surveying the farms. The images are used for disease detection, sorting, grading and therefore controlling the quality of the crops.
ROLE OF SaaS
SAAS is a single handle software utilised to manage all the farming related activities. It uses spreadsheet to manage finance data and drones for imagery purposes. Agro based industries uses SAAS for data analysing and satellite imagery to collect, analyze and manage data from farms.
