Indicators are quantified as the information which help to explain how things are changing
overtime. For many years, a limited number of key economic measures has been used to
judge how the economy is performing for example the output, the level of employment, the
rate of inflation, the balance of payment, public sector borrowing etc. And these statistics
give an overall picture but not the explanation why the trends are occurring and do not
necessarily reflect the situation of the society, industry, or area. These indicators are
necessary for simplification quantification and communication of the factors. The following
are the indicators of sustainability regarding agriculture-

  1. Soil tillage index
  2. Soil cover rate
  3. Soil erosion risk
  4. Organic matter
  5. Crop diversity
  6. crop rotation
  7. Greenhouse protection
  8. biodiversity structures
  9. Buffers and security areas
